Trial

A trial is a free window to test the software, usually 14 days, before billing starts. No card required on MobiTaste Starter. You print a QR, take real orders, and decide before any charge happens.

What it means in operation

The trial starts the day you create the organization. During the window, every feature on the Starter plan is available with no restriction except plan caps. You can invite staff, print QR codes, take live orders, and run a full service. If you do not enter card details by day 14, the account moves to a read-only state for 30 days, then archives. If you enter card details on day 10, billing starts on day 15 and your data carries over without interruption. There are no trial-only watermarks on the guest menu and no “expires soon” overlays in the dashboard.

Why it matters

A trial without a card on file is a different artifact from a trial with one. Both are called “free trial” in marketing copy, but the conversion math is different. A card-required trial converts higher because the user already gave up the card; a no-card trial converts lower but earns more goodwill. MobiTaste runs no-card because the buyer is a small business owner, and small business owners read “card required” as the first sign of a trap. The trade-off is fewer conversions and more honest ones.
